Fair use
Limits exist to keep the service fast for everyone, not to push you onto a plan. They apply per account and mode (test and live are counted separately), and responses carry RateLimit-* headers so your agent can pace itself.

Questions
- Is it really free?
- Yes. Every compliance feature is included with no plan limits and no credit card. Fair-use limits keep the service healthy; if you need more, email us and we raise them.
- What is test mode?
- New accounts get test keys immediately. Test mode is an isolated sandbox: preflight checks, Elements and test runs all work there. Live mode turns on when you verify your domain with a DNS record or a file.
- How will Checkbox make money?
- From the Checkbox Warranty, a separate product we plan to offer to merchants who keep passing Checkbox checks under monitoring. It is not available yet and nothing is charged for it today.
- Which laws do you check?
- The federal Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA), EFTA/Regulation E for recurring debits, and the state automatic-renewal laws listed on the Laws page, each with its citation and effective date.
- Is this legal advice?
- No. Checkbox is software: it reports what it observed, which requirement it relates to, and how to fix it. The rules catalog is drafted from primary sources and pending attorney review; have counsel review your program.
