Checkbox Warranty (coming): planned protection for merchants who keep passing Checkbox’s checks
Automatic-renewal claims are expensive mostly because they are class actions and attorney-general actions over every sign-up in a period. We are working toward a warranty — and, with insurance partners, coverage — for merchants whose programs Checkbox monitors and keeps finding free of critical and high-severity issues. Checkbox itself is free; the warranty is how we plan to earn our keep.
How we expect it to work
- Continuous monitoring. Every monitored site has a score and an insurable status: no critical or high-severity check failing, no critical check left undecided, and no high-severity obligation left without any evidence, based on a recent scan of the checkout.
- A record you can rely on. The evidence vault keeps a tamper-evident history of what customers were shown and sent, and when — the record a warranty or an underwriter needs.
- Protection tied to that status. The program we are designing would apply only while a site stays insurable, and only to the parts of the lifecycle Checkbox monitors. When a change breaks compliance, you are alerted with the fix and a window to correct it — that part works today.

No warranty or insurance is offered today, and nothing on this page is an offer of coverage or a promise that one will be offered. An insurable status is an automated assessment, not a determination that a program complies with the law. Terms, pricing and eligibility will be published with the program and depend on our insurance partners and applicable law. Until a written warranty is in force, Checkbox takes on no legal liability for your subscription program (see the Terms).
